Paul has been involved with fine art, photography and video since
high school. He has actively followed this passion through college
and his adult life. After working with a wide range of media including
watercolor, pastels, acrylic and oil paints, he realized that
photography and later, video are
the media which best allow him to express a deep love of nature
and a desire to tell his clients personal stories.
His patience, attention to detail, keen eye for the human condition
and sensitive nature have combined with an artistic creativity
which has matured through years of hard work and study, to allow
him to be of service to many clients and friends.
Pauls video career started at one of the largest wedding video
studios in the San Francisco bay area where he was lead videographer
for 10 years, and the main editor for four years. He then ran
his own studio for five years before relocating to the high desert
near Palm Springs in Southern California.
"The technology of Silicon Valley and sophistication of
San Francisco create
a dynamic atmosphere which pushes the creative process",
states Paul, "it's a very exciting place to hone one's creative
abilities."
Of wedding and family videos, he says, "We hope that our
product will not
only be a joy for the couple in the short term, but may also play
a part in
strengthening or helping repair their marriage down the road.
Sometimes we get caught up in the day-to-day dramas of life, and
it can be good to be reminded of what is really important. Video
has a unique ability to collect, preserve and remind us of these
things. I am blessed to be able to serve our clients and to play
a small part in preserving some of these things for them to share
with future generations."
Paul goes on to say, "Corporate videos are always an opportunity
to help our clients express what they have to say about the business
they love.
Distilling a message into a 30 second TV commercial, gives us
a chance to
apply creative solutions in novel ways. We're always seeking unique
and
memorable ways to put across our clients message. It really gives
the story-telling brain cells a work out!"
On creativity; "Creativity and inspiration are not things
you can purchase
at the local discount store. Being involved with a range of projects
helps
us apply ideas to a project that may not occur to someone who
has a narrow focus. However we are careful not to become over-extended.
We won't accept more jobs than we can give our full attention
to. This is one of the reasons we only cover one live event per
day, it's important to continue to have fun and not allow the
business to become a burden. Life long learning and colaboration
with clients are also keys to new ideas."
On technology; "It's important to have good tools, and our
equipment is
state-of-the-art. Three chip broadcast quality digital cameras
and a firewire based non-linear edit system provide our clients
with the highest quality DVDs. We use several different software
programs to edit and produce our products. That allows us to use
the tool that gives the best result for each project. We generally
avoid 'stock' images for personal products. For instance, all
of the images in your wedding edit are from your wedding day.
That way when you take your DVD to show a friend, it will not
have the same DVD menu or opening title board as theirs."
